I was honestly about to spoil myself and order one the other day, since I DIY’d my rear brakes and saved a ton of money. Then my waterpump gave out driving home from my buddies house lol. Talk about luck! But hey... it’s been too reliable these past 30k lol.

My M3 is also being weird, it’s discovered this new thing called fuel efficiency. I’m starting to get concerned.

One of my coworkers has a swapped E30 and he said he would help me work on the E92, so I might do the water pump before it fails. I also might run it to failure because F it.

You should definitely DIY stuff. I had an absolute blast doing the brakes. Just kept referring to the many DIY guides/videos and it went smoothly. Whenever I got frustrated or stuck I would just light a Cuban and refer to another video lol. Took a few hours but overall it was a pleasant Saturday! It’s also nice being able to have the rear brakes completely overhauled (rotors, pads, sensor, etc) for less than $170, using all OEM parts with a lifetime warranty thanks to FCP euro.

I don’t see a problem with running til failure. I noticed my fan running full blast and it was down on power, almost as if the charge pipe was cracked and it wasn’t holding boost. Then 3 minutes later I got a warning light saying the engine was about to overheat. If you don’t pull over quickly after this you get another red warning light telling you the engine is overheating. I believe if you keep driving the car will even go into limp mode before any real damage is done. I immediately pulled over and let it cool down. Babied it back home and got it towed to my indie, should be getting it back tomorrow.

I have lacked a spot to do it. So hopefully he will actually he me. He wants to reinstate AC on his E30 and I offered to help, not that he needs any help.

I do want to work on my cars, but I lack a place. Yet another reason to get a house. Is it bad I want a house so I can get an E34 M5 and so I have a place to work on cars?

I think I might just run it to failure because I do have two cars to use.

I’m in the same boat, I don’t have space. Borrowed my friends shaded driveway and his help for the day.

I honestly want a house myself just so I can have a garage and a nicer backyard lol. The only problem is to get what I want in my area (NoVa, about 20 min from DC) I’m either getting a $500k townhouse with a garage, or a tiny house with no garage and a big backyard. If I want both, I’m spending like $700k on a house with way more room than I possibly need.

I’ve owned two cars with actual names and two cars with alphanumeric names. I always knew what to call the former, but I never know what to call the latter. (I refuse to say “One-twenty-eight-eye” every time I refer to my car.)
